Collecting data from YouTube Public

Creating a datastream to collect data from YouTube Public

Configuration: Choose the data you want to collect from YouTube Public

To choose what data to collect and customize the YouTube Public datastream configuration, follow these steps:

  1. (Optional) Rename your datastream.

  1. In Report type, select the type of data to collect from YouTube Public. The selected report type determines the additional fields to populate.

  1. For the Channel and Video report types, in Number of videos, enter the number of videos to fetch. If the field is left empty, all videos for the selected channels will be fetched.

  2. For the Channel and Video report types, in Channels, select the channels for which to fetch data. If the field is left empty, data for all channels assigned to the current user will be fetched.

    You can search for channels using either the channel name or the channel ID in the format id:channelID.

    To find a channel ID, try the following methods:

    • If you have access to the account, follow the steps described in the YouTube documentation.

    • If you don't have access to the account, view the source code of the channel page and find either data-channel-external-id="" or "externalId":"" to obtain the channel ID.

  3. For the Search by keywords report type, choose how you want to specify the keywords on which to collect data:

    Type in

    Select this option to manually enter the keywords on which you want to collect data.

    If you select this option, in Keywords, type in the keywords on which you want to collect data. Enter each keyword on a new line.

    Value table

    Select this option to provide a value table containing the keywords on which you want to collect data.

    If you select this option, in Value table, select the value table containing the keywords on which you want to collect data.

  4. For the Search trending videos report type, in Countries, select at least one country for which to fetch data.
