Using the Custom Library of widgets

This guide explains how to add widgets to the Custom Library and manage the widgets in the Custom Library.

Introduction

What is the Custom Library?

The Custom Library is a collection of saved widgets created by users in your Adverity instance. After you have created a widget and added it to a dashboard, you can add this widget to the Custom Library. Widgets in the Custom Library are available to all users in your Adverity instance, even if they do not have access to the workspace where you created the widget.

What widgets can I add to the Custom Library?

You can add table or visualization widgets to the Custom Library. It is not possible to add iFrame, header, text, image, placeholder or switcher widgets to the Custom Library.

How can I use widgets from the Custom Library?

Widgets in the Custom Library are treated as templates, from which you can create other widgets to add to a dashboard. This is so you can apply the same formatting and customization to other widgets in different dashboards.

When adding a widget from the Custom Library to a dashboard, you can change the date range, dimensions and metrics used in the visualization. For more information about adding widgets from the Custom Library to a dashboard, see Adding a pre-built visualization widget to a dashboard.

Prerequisites

Before you complete the procedure in this guide, perform all of the following actions:

• Create a widget to add to the Custom Library and add it to a dashboard. For more information, see Creating widgets and adding them to a dashboard.

Adding widgets to the Custom Library

To add widgets to the Custom Library, follow these steps:

1. Go to the Present page.

2. Click on the dashboard that contains the table or visualization widget you want to add to the Custom Library.

3. In the top right corner of the widget, click More.

4. At the bottom of the menu, click Save widget to Custom Library.

5. In Name of the widget, enter a name for the widget. This will be shown to all users in the Custom Library.

6. Click Save.

As a result, you have added the widget to the Custom Library. You and other users in your Adverity instance can now use this widget as a template to add similar widgets to any dashboard.

Managing widgets in the Custom Library

Manage the widgets in your Custom Library by renaming or deleting widgets in the Custom Library. To rename or delete a widget, follow these steps:

1. Go to the Present page.

2. In the top left corner, click Select workspace, then Administration.

3. In the Present section of the administration menu, click Custom Widget Library.

4. In the row for the widget you want to rename or delete, perform one of the following actions:

   • To rename the widget, click Update widget name and enter a new name for the widget, then click Update.

   • To delete the widget, click Delete. In the confirmation dialog box, click Delete widget.

As a result, the widget has been renamed or deleted. If you renamed a widget, all other users in your Adverity instance will see the new name in the Custom Library. If you deleted a widget, it will no longer appear in the Custom Library.
