Adding visualization widgets to a dashboard

This guide explains how to add visualization widgets to a dashboard in the Present element.

Introduction

A widget represents your data, usually as a table or a chart. These types of widgets are also called visualizations. Widgets can also be images, videos and text. Add widgets to a dashboard, which is a collection of one or more widgets displayed on a page.

A dashboard gives you the most up-to-date information about your marketing campaigns. You can share, embed, and export the dashboard, and you can collaborate on a dashboard with others.

You can add a visualization widget to your dashboard in two ways:

  • Add a visualization widget by using the Explore element to create and add the visualization widget.

  • Add a pre-built visualization widget to a dashboard by choosing a pre-built widget from a library or filling in the questionnaire to find the best pre-built visualization widget to add to your dashboard

Adding a visualization widget to a dashboard using Explore

To add a visualization widget from Explore to your dashboard, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Present element and select the Workspace you work with in Explore & Present.

  1. Click the dashboard to which you want to add the pre-built widgets.

  2. In the top right corner of the page, click Create visualization.

  3. Click Custom from Explore.

  4. In the Explore element, create a visualization widget to add to your dashboard. For more information on how to create a simple visualization widget, see Creating simple widgets.

  5. In the top right corner, click Save & Add to Dashboard .

  6. Choose one of the following options:

    • To add the widget to your dashboard as a table, click Add as a Table.

    • To add the widget to your dashboard as a chart, click Add as a Visualization.

As a result, you have created a visualization widget in Explore and added it to your dashboard.

Adding a pre-built visualization widget to a dashboard

Quickly add a pre-built widget to a dashboard in the Present element. Either choose a pre-built widget from a library or fill in the questionnaire to find the best pre-built widget to add to your dashboard.

You can also add widgets from the Custom Library. These are widgets created by other users in your Adverity instance that you can add to your dashboard. When adding widgets from the Custom Library, you can change the date range as well as the dimensions and metrics used in the visualization. Limitations

Adding pre-built widgets to a dashboard comes with the following limitations:

  • Large data sets and date ranges may take some time to preview when configuring the pre-built widget.

  • Filters can only be added to pre-built widgets after they have been added to a dashboard.

Prerequisites

Before you complete the procedure in this part of the guide, perform all of the following actions:

  • Make sure that your Data Extract contains the following fields:

    • costs

    • impressions

Adding a pre-built widget from a library

To add a pre-built widget to a dashboard, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Present element and select the Workspace you work with in Explore & Present.

  1. Click the dashboard to which you want to add the pre-built widgets.

  2. In the top right corner of the page, click Create visualization.

  3. Click Pre-built from Library.

  4. Click on the type of widget to add to the dashboard. To learn more about a widget type, click the button in the top right corner. This guide uses Impressions and Costs: Monthly as an example.

  5. Click Continue.

  1. In Adjust Visualization Preset, configure the following fields:

    Date Range

    Specify the date range for the data to display in the widget. For this example, select Last x months and enter 12 to display data for the last 12 months.

    Dimensions

    Choose the dimensions to display in the widget. Make sure Monthly is selected.

    Metrics

    Choose the metrics to display in the widget. Make sure Impressions and Costs are selected.

  2. In the right side of the page, preview the widget before it is added to the dashboard

  3. In the bottom right corner of the page, click Add To Dashboard.

As a result, the pre-built widget is added to the dashboard.

Letting Adverity help you choose the pre-built widget

If you are unsure what kind of widget to add to a dashboard, fill in a questionnaire to let Adverity help you choose what widget to add. To fill in the questionnaire, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Present element and select the Workspace you work with in Explore & Present.

  1. Click the dashboard to which you want to add the pre-built widgets.

  2. In the top right corner of the page, click Create visualization.

  3. In the menu, click Pre-built from Library.

  4. Scroll down the page and, at the end of the list of visualizations, click Help me choose.

  5. Answer the questions in the questionnaire. The right side of the page displays a list of widgets that best suit the answers provided in the questionnaire.

  6. Click on the type of widget you want to add to the dashboard.

  7. Click Continue.
