Working with widget filter templates in Present

This guide explains how to create and apply widget filter templates while using a dashboard in the Present page, and how to view and delete your filter templates.

Introduction

Filter templates allow you to save a set of dimension filters for a widget and apply them to other widgets.

Creating and applying widget filter templates in a dashboard

You can also save filter templates and apply filter templates to widgets in the Explore page. For more information, see Filtering the data shown in widgets.

This guide explains how to save and apply filter templates on a dashboard. You can create filter templates for the widgets contained in a dashboard.

To create a filter template using a widget on a dashboard, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Present page.

  2. Click the dashboard in which you want to create a filter template.

  3. Hover over the widget that you want to use to create a filter template and click Widget settings.

  4. Click Edit dimension filters.

  5. Choose one of the following options:

    • To create a new filter template, follow these steps:

      1. Click Add dimension filter.

      2. In the Dimension filter pop-up window, configure the filter to save as a filter template. For more information on configuring a filter, see Adding a dimension filter to a widget.

      3. Click Apply.

      4. Click Save filter template.

      5. In Filter template name, enter a name for the filter template.

    • To apply an existing filter template to this widget, follow these steps:

      1. Click Load filter template.

      2. In the Select filter template drop-down, choose the filter template to apply.

  6. Click Apply.

As a result, you have either saved all dimension filters applied to this widget are saved a filter template, which can be applied to other widgets in this workspace, or applied an existing filter template to this widget.

Viewing and deleting filter templates

To view all the filter templates created in your current workspace and its child workspaces, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Explore page.

  2. In the top left corner, click Select workspace, then Administration.

  3. In the Explore section of the administration menu, click Segments. The Segment List table displays the following information about the filter templates created in this workspace and any child workspaces:

    Workspace

    This is the workspace in which the filter template was created.

    Name

    The name of the filter template.

    Filter

    This explains how the filter template filters data. This shows the dimension that the filter applies to, the operator used in the filter, and the criteria the dimension must meet.

    For example, a filter template that only shows data for a the account ID ABC123 is displayed as Account ID is ABC123.

    User

    This displays the name and email address of the user who created the filter template.

    Date created

    This displays the date and time when the filter template was created.

    Last updated

    This displays the date and time when the filter template was last updated.

  4. (Optional) To delete a filter template, click Delete in the corresponding row.

As a result, if you have deleted a filter template, it will no longer be shown in the Segment List table.

If the deleted filter template was applied to any widgets when you deleted it, the filters that make up the filter template are still applied to the widget. Only the filter template (the saved collection of filters) is deleted.
