Creating dashboards in Present

This guide explains how to create a new dashboard in the Present page, and how to add a widget to your new dashboard.

Introduction

What is a dashboard?

A dashboard is a collection of widgets organized to present your data. You can share a dashboard to collaborate on it with other Adverity users, and to allow external users to view it.

What is a widget?

A widget is an individual element on a dashboard. Use Explore to create table and chart (visualization) widgets based on your data. You can also add image, video, and text widgets to your dashboard.

In Explore, you create and edit widgets in a view. Only views that are added to a dashboard as a widget are saved.

How do I create a dashboard?

There are three ways to create a dashboard:

What else do I need to know about dashboards?

All dates and numbers displayed in dashboards are shown in the format matching your browser locale.

This setting depends on the language settings in your browser, which you can change as described in the Google Chrome, Firefox, and Safari documentation.

Week-related dimensions and date range filters are based on the first day of the week set in your workspace.

To change the first day of the week on a workspace level, contact Adverity support.

Prerequisites

Before you complete the procedure in this guide, perform all of the following actions:

Creating a new empty dashboard

To create an empty dashboard, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Present page.

  2. In the top right corner, click + Create empty dashboard.

As a result, you have created an empty dashboard. To start adding widgets to your new dashboard, see the following guides:

Creating a dashboard containing a widget from Explore

To create a dashboard by adding your widgets from Explore to it, follow the instructions in Creating widgets and adding them to a dashboard.

Creating a dashboard from a dashboard template

If you have created a dashboard template, you can create a dashboard based on your dashboard template. For information about dashboard templates, see Using dashboard templates.

Viewing your new dashboard

To view the dashboard you have created, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Present page.

  2. Click the dashboard that you have created.

By default, dashboards are displayed in the order in which they are created. The most recently created dashboard is displayed first. Changing the order in which dashboards are displayed only applies on your device - these changes are not visible to any other users.
