Loading data into LinkedIn Offline Conversions

This guide explains how to load data into LinkedIn Offline Conversions for further analysis.

Limitations

Loading data into LinkedIn Offline Conversions comes with the following limitations:

  • When updating an offline conversion segment, you cannot add new conversion rules to the existing segment. Either create a new offline conversion segment with the relevant conversion rules or change an offline conversion segment directly in the LinkedIn Campaign Manager.

Prerequisites

Before you complete the procedure in this guide, perform all of the following actions:

  • Create a datastream whose data you want to load into LinkedIn Offline Conversions. For more information on creating a datastream, see Creating a datastream.

  • Ensure that the data extracts of the datastream from which you want to load data into LinkedIn Offline Conversions contain the following fields, and that they conform to the following standards:

    • There are no currency symbols.

    • There are no negative numbers.

    • The field is not left blank.

    • If the Amount field value you want to load into LinkedIn Offline Conversions is a number with decimals, the value has a maximum of two decimal places. For example, 2000.02 or 2,000.02.

    • The field's value is not 0.

    • If you do not track the amount, populate this field with the value 1.

    Currency

    • The currency is in a standard ISO format, for example CAD, USD or EUR.

    EventType

    • The values are in capital letters, for example PURCHASE. You can use the convert or convertallenrichment to convert the values to capital letters.

    • The EventType field matches one of the selected conversion types in the destination settings.

    Timestamp

    • The value is in epoch milliseconds. If your data source records timestamps in seconds, add "000" to the end of the seconds value to convert it to milliseconds.

  • If your data extracts contain any of the following fields, make sure that they conform to the following length requirements:

    • The First Name and Last Name fields must be max. 35 characters.

    • The Company and Title fields must be max. 50 characters.

    • The Country field must be an ISO standard two-letter code, e.g. DE for Germany.

  • Ensure that the data extracts of the datastream contain either the Email field, or both the First Name and Last Name fields.

    Adverity hashes the email identifier field to ensure that your data is anonymized. The first and last name identifiers are not hashed as they must be sent to LinkedIn Offline Conversions in the original form.

Procedure

To load data from a datastream into LinkedIn Offline Conversions, follow these steps:

  1. Add LinkedIn Offline Conversions as a destination to the workspace which contains the datastream or to one of its parent workspaces.

  2. Assign the LinkedIn Offline Conversions destination to the datastream.

    You can assign as many destinations to a datastream as you want.

    Some destinations require specific Data Mapping, such as Hubspot and Facebook Offline Conversions. If these Data Mapping requirements conflict, the destinations cannot be assigned to the same datastream.

  3. Configure the Data Mapping of your datastream to conform with LinkedIn Offline Conversions destination standards.

  4. Enable data loading into the destination from the datastream.

  5. Configure load settings.

Adding LinkedIn Offline Conversions as a destination

To add LinkedIn Offline Conversions as a destination to a workspace, follow these steps:

  1. Select the workspace you work with in Adverity and then, in the platform navigation menu, click Destinations.

  2. Click + Add Destination.

  3. Search for and click LinkedIn Offline Conversions.

  1. Choose how to authorize Adverity to access LinkedIn Offline Conversions:

    • To use your details, click Access LinkedIn Offline Conversions using your credentials.

    • To ask someone else to use their details, click Access LinkedIn Offline Conversions using someone else's credentials.

      If you choose this option, the person you ask to create the authorization will need to go through the following steps.

  2. Click Next.

  1. Log in to your LinkedIn Offline Conversions account.

  1. In the Configuration page, fill in the following fields:

    Name

    (Optional) Rename the destination.

    Sponsored account

    Select the account into which you want to load data.

  1. Click Create.

Assigning LinkedIn Offline Conversions as a destination

To assign the LinkedIn Offline Conversions destination to a datastream, follow these steps:

  1. Select the workspace you work with in Adverity and then, in the platform navigation menu, click Datastreams.

  2. Open the chosen datastream by clicking on its name.

  1. In the External destinations section, click + Assign destination.

  2. Click Assign existing destination.

  1. Select the LinkedIn Offline Conversions checkbox in the list.

  2. Click Save.

Configuring Data Mapping for LinkedIn Offline Conversions

All data that you load into LinkedIn Offline Conversions must conform with LinkedIn Offline Conversions standards.

To configure Data Mapping for the LinkedIn Offline Conversions destination, follow these steps:

  1. Select the workspace you work with in Adverity and then, in the platform navigation menu, click Datastreams.

  2. Open the chosen datastream by clicking on its name.

  3. In the top navigation panel, click Data Mapping.

  4. In the Source Fields column, find the field in the data extract used to identify users.

  5. In the cell in the Target fields column in the identifier field's row, write one of the following and press Enter. If you cannot find any value, click + Create new to create the target field with type string.

The Data Mapping changes are saved automatically.

Enabling data loading into LinkedIn Offline Conversions destination

To enable data loading into the LinkedIn Offline Conversions destination from the datastream, follow these steps:

  1. Select the workspace you work with in Adverity and then, in the platform navigation menu, click Datastreams.

  2. Open the chosen datastream by clicking on its name.

  1. In the list in the Destinations section, find the LinkedIn Offline Conversions destination, and enable the toggle.

  2. (Optional) To load data you have already collected into LinkedIn Offline Conversions, in the All tasks tab, find the data extract you want to load into choose the additional identifiers to load into LinkedIn Offline Conversions, and in the Load section, click Re-load.

Configuring settings for loading data into LinkedIn Offline Conversions

To configure the settings for loading data into LinkedIn Offline Conversions, follow these steps:

  1. Select the workspace you work with in Adverity and then, in the platform navigation menu, click Datastreams.

  2. Open the chosen datastream by clicking on its name.

  1. In the Destinations section, find the LinkedIn Offline Conversions destination in the list, and click on the right.

  2. Click Destination settings.

  1. Fill in the following fields:

    Action

    Select one of the following:

    • Select Create new Offline Conversion Segment (once, then update) to create a new offline conversion segment the first time you load data from this datastream into LinkedIn Offline Conversions, and then update this segment with all subsequent data from the datastream.

    • Select Update existing Offline Conversion Segment to add data from the data extract to an existing segment.

    Offline conversion segment name

    Enter the name of the segment to create or update in the destination.

    Identifiers

    Select the columns in the data extract used to identify users. You must add the following identifiers to the conversion:

    • Timestamp

    • Event Type

    • Amount

    • Currency

    You must also add either the email identifier or firstName and lastName identifiers to the conversion.

    Conversion rules

    Configure the conversions you want to load into LinkedIn Offline Conversions. To add multiple conversions, click + Add Another.

    • Request quote

    • Schedule

    • Sign up

  2. Click Save.
