Advanced File destination configuration

This reference explains in detail how to configure settings for loading data into a file server.

Prerequisites

Before you complete the procedure in this guide, perform all of the following actions:

Configuring data loading into a file server

To configure data loading into a file server, follow these steps:

  1. Select the workspace you work with in Adverity and then, in the platform navigation menu, click Destinations.

  2. Click the File destination in the list.

  3. In the secondary menu, click Data Mapping.

  4. Fill in the following fields:

    Data Mapping

By default, Adverity does not apply Data Mapping conventions to the data extracts when loading them into the destination. For more information on Data Mapping, see Applying Data Mapping to a datastream.

To apply the Data Mapping conventions defined at the datastream level when loading data into a destination, select one of the following options:

    • To apply Data Mapping and load columns with information about created or updated timestamps and filenames, select Enabled (with metadata).

    • To apply Data Mapping but not load columns containing information about created or updated timestamps and filenames, select Enabled (without metadata).

    Force string type

By default, Adverity automatically recognizes the data type of each field. Select this checkbox to convert all fields to the String data type.

    Format column names

Select this checkbox to format column names in the following way:

    • Spaces and special characters in column names are replaced with underscores (_).

    • Column names that start with a number are prefixed with the letter n.

    Convert column names to lowercase

Select this checkbox to convert column names to lower case.

    String line breaks

Specify how to treat line breaks.

  5. Click Save.

Troubleshooting: Adverity cannot access File destination

If Adverity cannot access the File destination, the destination may restrict access based on IP address.

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Find the IP address of your Adverity instance. To find the IP address of your Adverity instance, contact Adverity Customer Support.

  2. Add Adverity's IP address to the whitelist of your destination.
