Creating period comparison
sThis guide explains how to create
s that allow you to compare data from different time periods.A period comparison
displays data grouped by selected date ranges, which makes it easy to compare data from different periods of time. There are two ways to create a period comparison :Week-related dimensions and date range filters are based on the first day of the week set in your workspace.
To change the first day of the week on a workspace level, contact Adverity support.
Prerequisites
Before you complete the procedure in this guide, perform all of the following actions:
Using date comparison dimensions
You can use the following date comparison dimensions in Adverity:
-
Previous N periods
-
Same period N weeks/months/quarters/years ago
For more information, see this explanation of Date comparison.
When creating a dimension, remember the following:
using a date comparison-
This period refers to the date range selected in the date range filter. For more information, see Creating widgets with a date range filter.
We recommend including the selected date range in the
name so that it is clear which period is shown in the . -
For the Same period N weeks/months/quarters/years ago dimensions, the second period for comparison will be of the same length as the initially selected date range moved by an exact number of calendar units, for example, weeks or months from the initially selected date range.
For example, if the first date range you select is the week from July 1st to July 7th, the second period will also be one week long and will be an exact number of weeks/months/quarters/years earlier or later than the first range.
Procedure
