Connecting Power BI to a data share

This guide explains how to connect to your data share from Power BI.

Prerequisites

Before you complete the procedure in this guide, perform all of the following actions:

• Load your collected data into Adverity Data Storage.

• Create a data share and copy its credentials.

Setting up an OData connection to the data share from Power BI

To set up the connection from Power BI to your data share, follow these steps:

1. Select the OData connection type.

2. Enter the data share's URL.

3. Select the Basic authentication type.

4. In User name and Password, enter the data share's credentials.

Configuring a scheduled refresh in Power BI

To keep your data up-to-date in Power BI without needing to manually refresh the data, use the scheduled refresh feature in Power BI.

To do so, follow these steps:

1. Publish a report using the Power BI desktop version.

2. Go to your Power BI online version.

3. Find your dataset.
