Brand design

Brand design is the visual side of Knowledge: your colours, fonts, logo, and tone. It is stored as a design system, and is distinct from the Brand business entity, aliases, industry, competitors, described under Business context. When Adverity Atlas generates a presentation or a data app, it uses the design system so the output looks like yours, not a generic template.

Prerequisites

Editor role. A design system is optional, there is a sensible default, but setting it up once makes every generated artifact on-brand automatically.

What a design system holds

  • Palette: Your colours, keyed as primary, secondary, and accent

  • Typography: The fonts for headings, body, and monospace

  • Spacing and corners: The spacing scale and corner rounding applied to generated layouts

  • Logo: A logo to place on generated output

  • Tone: A short description of the brand voice, e.g. “professional, data-driven, minimal”

  • Guidelines: Free-text brand rules the generators should respect

Adverity Atlas stores the logo inside the design system rather than linking to it: when a logo comes from a web address, it fetches the image once and keeps a copy, so generated output never loads an image from a remote site. A logo must be a PNG, JPEG, GIF, WebP, ICO, or SVG image of at most 256 KB. One that cannot be fetched or does not meet those limits is left out.

Setting up a design system

  1. Open Knowledge from the workspace navigation, click New, and choose Brand Design. The New brand design panel opens, described as “Capture a brand design system to reuse across decks.”

  2. Enter a Name. This is the name you pick from later when generating an artifact, so make it unambiguous if you run more than one brand.

  3. Fill in the fields below. Leave any of them blank to omit it.

  4. Click Save brand design. The design system is stored ready to use, it does not need confirming the way an extracted item does, so it is selectable straight away when building a slide master.

Field

What it sets

Name

The brand this design belongs to, for example Acme Corp

Required

Palette: Primary, Secondary, Accent

The three brand colours. Any CSS colour is accepted and normalised

Optional

Typography: Heading font, Body font

The fonts applied to headings and body text

Optional

Tone

A short description of the brand voice, for example “professional, data-driven, minimal”

Optional

Guidelines

Free-text brand rules the generators should respect

Optional

You do not have to fill this in by hand. Ask in Chat to research a brand and Adverity Atlas proposes a design system from that brand’s public presence, which you then review and refine.

Tip

If you run more than one brand, name each clearly. When generating an artifact you choose which design applies, and clear names make that choice unambiguous.

Slide masters

A slide master is a reusable deck look built on top of a design system: the design system sets the colours and fonts, the master sets the decoration and component styling applied to every slide. Pick a master when generating a deck and successive decks come out consistent instead of each being one-off.

  1. From Knowledge, click New and choose Slide master. The New slide master panel opens, described as “Compose a reusable deck look with a live preview.”

  2. Enter a Name, for example Q2 Board Deck.

  3. Choose a Brand. The picker lists the workspace’s design systems, or leave it on Neutral (no brand).

  4. Work through the option groups below. A sample slide above the controls re-renders on every change, so you compose against the result rather than guessing.

  5. Click Save master. The master is available the next time you generate a presentation.

Group

What you choose

Decoration grammar

The recurring marks on a slide: Corner (shape, position, tone), Heading, Eyebrow, Side accent, Background, and Divider

Component treatments

How the repeating blocks are styled: Metric panel, Status badge, Callout box, and Takeaway footer

Deck defaults

Deck-wide settings: Visual treatment, Surface, and Theme (light or dark). Each can be left on deck default

Open an existing master to change it. The panel becomes Edit slide master and saves with Save changes.

See Presentations for how a master is applied when a deck is created.
