Cloning workspaces#

This guide explains how to clone your workspaces in Adverity.

Introduction#

Cloning workspaces helps you to easily and efficiently scale your data collection set-up. Workspace cloning includes re-creating selected datastreams from the source workspace, including re-using or cloning authorizations and transformations. Schedules, Data Mapping, datastream settings, universal monitors, and local data retention settings are preserved in the new workspace. The cloned workspace is independent of the source workspace and can be adjusted to meet your needs. Workspace cloning quickly re-creates similar data collection setups and saves your time on repetitive tasks.

Prerequisites#

Only users with Administrator permissions can clone workspaces.

Limitations#

Cloning of destinations and Bundle datastreams is not supported during workspace cloning.

Cloning workspaces#

To clone a workspace, follow these steps:

  1. In the top left corner, click image1 Select workspace.

  2. Find the workspace you want to clone and click the image2 Clone workspace icon next to it. The cloning wizard will open.

  3. In the Name & Position step, configure the following settings for the new workspace:

    • Workspace logo

    • Workspace name

    • Workspace parent

You will see a preview of the new workspace‘s position in the workspace tree.

  4. Click Next.

  5. In the Datastreams step, select the datastreams that you want to clone to the new workspace. The datastreams are grouped by their data sources.

  6. Click Next.

  7. In the Authorizations step, review the summary of the authorizations used by the selected datastreams that are needed for the new workspace. If the authorizations used by the datastreams selected in the previous step belong to the common parent workspace, then the same authorizations will be re-used. Otherwise, the authorizations will be cloned.

  8. Click Next.

  9. In the Transformations step, select one of these options:

    • Include transformations

Select this option to clone selected datastreams including all or some assigned transformations. If the transformation belongs to the parent workspace, it will be re-used. If the transformation belongs to the source workspace and cannot be re-used in the new workspace, it will be cloned.

    • Ignore transformations

Select this option to clone selected datastreams without any assigned transformations.

  10. (Optional) If you selected Include transformations in the previous step, configure the list of assigned transformations for each of the selected datastreams. The order of the assigned transformations is preserved.

  11. Click Next.

  12. Review the summary of the new workspace to be created and click Clone image3.

While the cloned workspace is being created, an indicator is displayed next to it in the workspace tree. Once the cloning is complete, you can select the new workspace and make any adjustments to finish your setup.

What’s next?#

Once the workspace cloning is complete, you may need to perform the following actions to finish your setup:
