Creating a bar chart to visualize potential impressions#

This guide explains how to create a bar chart that visualizes potential impressions.

Procedure#

To visualize potential impressions, you need to create a Calculated KPI that calculates unfulfilled potential impressions, and then use this Calculated KPI in a visualization widget.

Creating the unfulfilled potential impressions Calculated KPI#

The unfulfilled potential impressions Calculated KPI represents unfulfilled or unused potential – the potential value of impressions that has not been reached. To create this Calculated KPI, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Explore page.

  2. Next to the View tabs at the top of the page, click image1 Create new view.

  3. In the Metrics section of the view, click image2 Create new calculated KPI.

  4. In the Formula field, paste in

    (potential_impressions)-(impressions)
    
  5. In Calculated KPI name, type in Unfulfilled potential impressions.

  6. Click Create calculated KPI.

As a result, you have created the unfulfilled potential impressions Calculated KPI. Continue with this guide to add it to a visualization widget.

Creating a bar chart to visualize potential impressions#

To create a bar chart that displays potential impressions compared to impressions and includes the unfulfilled potential impressions, using a time dimension, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Explore page.

  2. Next to the View tabs at the top of the page, click image3 Create new view.

  3. From the Dimensions & Metrics list on the left, select the time dimension that you want to add to your widget, for example, Daily.

  4. From the Dimensions & Metrics list on the left, select the Impressions and Potential impressions metrics to add them to your widget.

  5. From the Dimensions & Metrics list on the left, select the image4 Unfulfilled potential impressions Calculated KPI to add it to your widget.

  6. In the data table, click on any value in the Impressions column to see the visualization options. Choose the data set you want to visualize, for example Daily.

  7. Repeat the previous step for the Potential Impressions and Unfulfilled potential impressions columns.

  8. In the Data sets section of the page, drag and drop the Unfulfilled potential impressions to the left. This means that this data set is displayed over the top of the other two data sets in the visualization.

  9. In the Visualization section of the page, in the Settings drop-down menu, select the impressions data set, e.g. Impressions: Daily. Configure the following settings for this data set:

    • In the Belongs to yAxis drop-down list, click Potential Impressions.

    • In Type, click Area spline.

  10. In the Visualization section of the page, in the Settings drop-down menu, select the unfulfilled potential impressions data set, e.g. Unfulfilled potential impressions: Daily. Configure the following settings:

    • In the Belongs to yAxis drop-down list, click Potential Impressions.

    • (Optional) Click image5 More and select the second option marked with the image6 icon to change the color of the displayed line.

As a result, you have created a bar chart that displays potential impressions.
