- Activity#
The central operational monitoring page within the Connect Data platform area that provides comprehensive visibility into all task execution across the current workspace and optionally child workspaces. Activity displays every fetch, transformation, and load operation with complete status, timing, error reporting, and data extract preview capabilities. The Activity page integrates directly with monitor results, showing quality warnings and errors alongside operational metrics during the data flow process where monitors examine data extracts during fetch operations before any transformation or loading occurs. Users can restart tasks, acknowledge issues, re-load data to destinations after configuration changes, access detailed logs for troubleshooting, and monitor the complete data pipeline from raw collection through final destination loading. The Activity page serves as the primary operational dashboard for data pipeline management and integrates closely with Performance Manager for optimization insights and alerts. Within the workspace hierarchy, Activity can display operations from the current workspace and child workspaces, but cannot access parent workspace operations, maintaining security boundaries while providing comprehensive operational visibility for organizational data governance.
- Adverity Data Storage#
Adverity’s internal data warehouse powered by Snowflake infrastructure that serves as one of two mutually exclusive storage architecture options in the final storage tier (the other being external warehouse), representing the third and final stage in Adverity’s data processing flow after local storage and optional transformation and monitor processing. ADS stores only target fields that have been mapped through Data Mapping processes, completely excluding unmapped source fields which remain only in local storage. Data loaded into ADS becomes immediately available for Explore and Present operations, supports Calculated KPI and Calculated metric processing, and enables Data Conversations functionality. When a datastream executes, data flows from data source → local storage → optional transformation and monitor → ADS (if selected) + any additional external destinations. ADS integrates with the Data Dictionary to maintain consistent target field definitions across all workspaces in the instance and supports advanced analytics features including interactive filtering, drill-down capabilities, and cross-datastream data comparison. ADS represents Adverity’s fully managed storage option where infrastructure, scaling, and maintenance are handled automatically. - Authorization#
A credential and permission configuration that securely connects Adverity to specific data sources or destinations within defined access scopes, serving as a required component for every datastream. Each authorization encapsulates authentication methods (usernames, passwords, API keys, OAuth tokens, custom headers), access permissions (account IDs, profile access, data element scope), and refresh mechanisms for maintaining connectivity throughout the data collection process. Authorizations exist within workspace hierarchies with inheritance patterns - authorizations created in a workspace are available to that workspace and all child workspaces but not to sibling workspaces, enabling controlled access management across organizational structures. A single authorization can be reused across unlimited datastreams and destinations that require the same access credentials, promoting security centralization and administrative efficiency while reducing credential management overhead. When authorizations expire, become invalid, or require credential updates, all dependent datastreams and destinations will fail until the authorization is renewed, making authorization management critical for operational continuity across the entire data pipeline. Bundle connectors do not require authorizations for external data sources since they operate on already-collected data from other datastreams within the workspace hierarchy.
- Bundle#
A specialized connector type that combines data extracts from multiple existing datastreams into consolidated outputs rather than connecting to external data sources, operating within Adverity’s data processing flow by accessing data that has already passed through the fetch → local storage → optional transformation sequence from other datastreams. Bundle connectors operate exclusively on data extracts already collected by other datastreams within accessible workspace hierarchies, enabling complex data combination scenarios such as merging multiple advertising platform data into unified reporting or combining historical and real-time data feeds. When a Bundle datastream executes a fetch, it accesses the most recent data extracts from configured source datastreams, applies assigned transformations to the combined data following standard processing rules where transformations happen once and processed data gets loaded to all assigned destinations, and produces unified data extracts that follow the same data flow: combined data → local storage → optional additional transformations and monitors → final destination loading. Bundles can access datastreams from different workspaces within the hierarchy, enabling sophisticated organizational data workflows. Bundle processing enables complex multi-source data aggregation while following the same quality monitoring, transformation, and distribution patterns as regular datastreams, ensuring consistent data processing across all collection methods.
- Calculated KPI#
Advanced derived metrics created through mathematical operations on existing target fields, such as cost-per-click (cost divided by clicks), return-on-ad-spend (revenue divided by cost), or conversion rates (conversions divided by visits). Calculated KPIs are now available only in the Explore & Present product. Calculated KPIs are computed dynamically when widgets are created in Explore by querying data from Adverity Data Storage, or external warehouse. Calculated KPIs are visually distinguished with green display colors and calculator icons in the Explore interface and can only be utilized within Explore and Present pages for analytical purposes - they cannot be loaded into external destinations during the datastream processing flow since they represent derived computations rather than collected or transformed source data. The formulas defining Calculated KPIs support complex mathematical expressions, multiple target field references, and business-specific calculation logic, enabling sophisticated organizational analytics while maintaining calculation consistency across all analytical operations.

This platform area handles the foundational data collection phase where datastreams use connectors and authorizations to collect data from data sources, creating data extracts that flow to local storage for subsequent processing. Connect Data provides comprehensive operational oversight through monitor validation during fetch operations and detailed tracking through Activity and Performance Manager interfaces.
- Connector#
A pre-built software interface that establishes technical communication protocols between Adverity and specific data source types, serving as a required component for every datastream that determines available data collection capabilities, authentication requirements at the beginning of the data processing flow. Each connector contains comprehensive API specifications, authentication requirements, data schemas, field mapping possibilities, rate limiting behaviors, and collection capabilities for its corresponding data source, defining what data can be collected. When creating datastreams, users select connectors which determine all available templates, configuration options, data collection parameters, field availability, and processing capabilities that will be used throughout the data lifecycle. Adverity maintains hundreds of connectors for different data sources including advertising platforms, analytics tools, CRM systems, databases, and business applications, plus the universal Web Connect connector for accessing APIs without dedicated connector support. Special Bundle connectors operate differently by combining data extracts from multiple existing datastreams rather than connecting to external data sources, accessing data that has already passed through the initial collection and storage phases.
- Custom script#
An advanced transformation type that employs instruction-based programming logic to perform complex data modifications during the processing stage of Adverity’s data flow, operating on data extracts after they have been stored in local storage and before they are loaded into final destinations. Custom script transformations consist of sequential instructions written in Python-like syntax that execute from top to bottom during task execution, enabling complex multi-step data modifications where later instructions operate on results from earlier instructions, and can add fields, remove fields, perform calculations, convert data formats, apply conditional logic, integrate with mapping tables and value tables, and execute virtually unlimited data manipulation operations. The Transformation Copilot AI assistant can help users create custom scripts by translating natural language requirements into appropriate instruction configurations. Custom scripts integrate seamlessly with mapping tables and value tables that exist within the same workspace hierarchy for sophisticated data enrichment and standardization workflows, enabling lookups, value substitutions, and complex data relationships.
During datastream execution, custom scripts process data following the flow: data source → fetch → local storage → custom script processing → processed data → final destination loading, where the same processed data is distributed to all assigned destinations according to Adverity’s processing rule that transformations happen once per datastream execution. Custom script transformations can be assigned to multiple datastreams for reusability across different data sources, can be combined with Standard transformations in the same processing pipeline, and operate on data that contains original source fields from local storage before Data Mapping converts them to target fields for final storage.

Dashboards can only display data that has completed the full processing pipeline and uses target fields that have been properly mapped and loaded into Adverity Data Storage. Dashboards support responsive layouts that adapt to different screen sizes, multiple page organization for complex reporting scenarios, and interactive capabilities through Filter template and Quickfilter integration that enable dynamic data exploration without requiring new widget development. Each Dashboard can contain various widget types including data tables, charts, KPI boxes, geographical maps, and multimedia elements, all working together to provide complete analytical narratives. Dashboards enable collaboration through sharing mechanisms with other users, external publishing for stakeholder access, and export capabilities for report distribution while respecting workspace hierarchy access controls. The AI feature interprets user questions, automatically selects appropriate target fields from properly configured Data Mapping (only mapped fields are available since unmapped source fields remain in local storage), applies relevant filters, and generates contextually accurate responses using the standardized field naming established through the mapping process. Data Conversations integrates comprehensively with the Data Dictionary to understand field meanings, classifications (dimension vs metric), business contexts, and relationships across all workspaces in the instance, ensuring responses align with organizational data definitions and business terminology. Data Conversations represents the convergence of Adverity’s data processing capabilities (collection, transformation, mapping, storage) with advanced AI query processing to enable non-technical users to access complex analytical insights through natural language interaction.
- Data Dictionary#
The centralized metadata repository maintained at the instance level that contains comprehensive definitions, classifications, usage patterns, and business context for all target fields across every workspace, serving as the authoritative source for field standardization throughout Adverity’s data processing and analytical operations. The Data Dictionary serves as the single source of truth for field definitions, specifying whether each target field is classified as a dimension or metric, providing business descriptions, documenting usage patterns across workspaces, maintaining data type specifications, and ensuring consistent field interpretation across all analytical operations. The Data Dictionary integrates with the Data Mapping process where source fields from data extracts are mapped to standardized target fields defined in this central repository. Users reference target fields from the Data Dictionary when creating Data Mapping configurations for datastreams (determining which source fields map to which target fields), building widgets in Explore (selecting dimensions and metrics for analysis), developing Calculated KPI formulas (referencing existing target fields), and creating comprehensive analytical content. The centralized approach ensures consistency in data interpretation across different teams, workspaces, and analytical operations while providing comprehensive documentation for data governance and compliance requirements.
- Data extract#
Raw data files in CSV format that contain the actual information collected during fetch operations, representing the first tangible output in Adverity’s data processing flow and serving as the foundation for all subsequent processing operations. Each fetch operation produces one or multiple data extracts depending on datastream configuration, data source characteristics, date range specifications, and connector behavior, with all data extracts initially flowing to local storage as the mandatory first storage destination before any processing can occur. Data extracts preserve source fields with original names, data formats, structure, and content exactly as provided by data sources, before any transformation, Data Mapping, or standardization processing occurs. All subsequent operations are applied to data extracts, including transformation processing (where Custom scripts and Standard transformations modify the data), Data Mapping (where source fields are mapped to target fields), and quality monitoring (where monitors examine the data during fetch operations). Data extracts can be previewed, downloaded, analyzed, and reprocessed through various Adverity interface pages including Activity (for operational monitoring), and their structure, content, and quality are monitored by data quality monitors during collection to ensure consistency, completeness, and reliability. When Bundle connectors operate, they combine multiple data extracts from different source datastreams to create consolidated data extracts that then follow the same processing flow.
- Data Mapping#
The comprehensive process of standardizing source fields from data extracts into consistent target fields defined in the Data Dictionary, occurring during the processing stage of Adverity’s data flow and serving as a prerequisite for loading data into any destination. Data Mapping addresses the fundamental challenge that different data sources use different field names for identical concepts (for example, Facebook uses “spend” while Google Ads uses “cost” for advertising expenditure). Through Data Mapping, both fields can be mapped to a standardized target field called “cost” from the Data Dictionary, enabling direct comparison and combined analysis across platforms. Data Mapping configurations are datastream-specific, meaning each datastream has individual mapping rules that can use Default Data Mapping provided by connectors for common field standardization, or completely custom mappings based on specific business requirements. Only source fields that have been explicitly mapped to target fields through the Data Mapping process can be loaded into destinations, making Data Mapping a prerequisite for data utilization in analytical and storage operations - unmapped source fields remain only in local storage and are not accessible in Adverity Data Storage, Explore, Present, or external destinations. Data Mapping integrates with optional transformation processing, where transformations can modify source fields before they are mapped to target fields, and the mapping process ensures that only properly standardized data reaches final analytical and storage destinations.
- Data source#
Any external system, platform, application, service, database, file system, or API endpoint from which Adverity can collect data using appropriate connectors and authorizations, serving as the starting point for all data processing flows in the platform. Data sources encompass advertising platforms (Google Ads, Facebook Ads, Microsoft Advertising), analytics tools (Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics), CRM systems (Salesforce, HubSpot), e-commerce platforms (Shopify, WooCommerce), databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle), file systems (FTP, SFTP, cloud storage), APIs, and hundreds of other business applications across all industry verticals. Each data source requires specific connector capabilities and particular authorization types to enable secure data access, and they provide source fields with their own naming conventions, data formats, update frequencies, and access patterns that are standardized through Data Mapping processes for consistency across platforms. Data sources determine the initial data structure and field naming that will be preserved in local storage and then optionally modified through transformation processing before being mapped to standardized target fields for analytical use. The diversity and comprehensiveness of supported data sources represents a key Adverity strength, enabling complete data consolidation across modern business technology stacks while maintaining consistent processing patterns regardless of source system complexity or API specifications.
- Datastream#
The fundamental configuration entity that defines how Adverity collects, processes, and delivers data from a specific data source to designated destinations, serving as the primary orchestration point for the complete data processing pipeline from collection through analytical consumption. Each datastream encapsulates all settings required for comprehensive data pipeline operation including one connector type (determining data source interface), one authorization (providing access credentials), data selection parameters, collection scheduling (Manual, Smart, or Custom fetch types), optional transformation assignments, Data Mapping configuration, monitor settings, and multiple destination assignments. Datastreams can have multiple destinations assigned including the mutually exclusive choice between Adverity Data Storage and external warehouse, plus unlimited additional external destinations, with all destinations receiving the same transformed and mapped data. Datastreams generate tasks each time they execute, with each task potentially including fetch, transform, and load phases depending on configuration, and can be initiated manually or through configured scheduling. Datastreams exist within specific workspaces but can be accessed across different workspaces within the hierarchy (enabling Bundle connectors to access data from different workspaces) while maintaining security boundaries. Multiple transformations can be assigned to a single datastream and they execute in the configured order, multiple monitors (both universal and custom) can validate data quality, and the same transformation or authorization can be reused across multiple datastreams for operational efficiency.
- Default Data Mapping#
Pre-configured Data Mapping rules provided by each connector that automatically map common source fields to standardized target fields defined in the Data Dictionary without requiring manual configuration, operating during the mapping stage of data processing after data extracts have been stored in local storage and before loading into destinations. Default Data Mapping addresses the reality that many data sources provide similar data concepts using different field naming conventions, and these automated mappings establish industry-standard conventions for common data types across different platforms. For example, Default Data Mapping for advertising connectors typically maps various cost-related source fields (such as Facebook’s “spend” or Google’s “cost”) to a standardized “cost” target field, and impression-related fields from different platforms to a unified “impressions” target field, enabling immediate cross-platform comparison. Users can customize Default Data Mapping rules for specific datastreams when business requirements demand different mappings from the standard conventions, but the defaults provide immediate data standardization for typical use cases without manual configuration overhead. Default Data Mapping integrates seamlessly with the Data Dictionary to ensure mapped target fields are properly classified as dimensions or metrics and maintain consistency across organizational data operations, enabling immediate analytical value while preserving the flexibility to customize mappings when needed.
- Destination#
Any internal or external system, platform, database, warehouse, or analytical tool where processed Adverity data can be loaded for storage, analysis, visualization, activation, or further processing operations, representing the final stage of Adverity’s data processing flow after data has completed the collection → storage → processing → mapping sequence. Destinations receive only mapped target fields (unmapped source fields remain in local storage). Destinations include internal options with mutually exclusive architecture choices: Adverity Data Storage (internal Snowflake-powered storage) OR external warehouse (customer-controlled Snowflake/BigQuery), plus external destinations. Additional external destinations can include data warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift), databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle), business intelligence tools (Looker Studio, Tableau, Power BI), cloud storage platforms (Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage, Azure Blob), marketing platforms (Google Ads, Facebook Ads for audience upload), and custom API endpoints. Each destination requires specific configuration settings including connection parameters, authentication credentials, table naming conventions, load behaviors, and data format specifications. Destinations can be assigned to multiple datastreams simultaneously, enabling comprehensive data distribution strategies where the same processed and mapped data reaches multiple analytical and operational systems following the rule that transformations happen once per datastream execution and all assigned destinations receive the same processed data. In the Management API, destinations are referred to as Targets, but functionality remains identical across interface types.

A qualitative, categorical, or descriptive target field that provides context and grouping capabilities for analytical operations, containing values such as campaign names, geographic locations, device types, time periods, product categories, or customer segments that enable data segmentation and analysis in the final visualization stage of Adverity’s data processing flow. Dimensions can only be created from source fields that have been mapped to target fields through Data Mapping processes and loaded into Adverity Data Storage, external warehouse, or external destination - unmapped source fields that remain only in local storage cannot be used as dimensions in analytical operations. In Adverity’s user interface, dimensions are displayed in blue colors to distinguish them from metrics (shown in green), and they serve as grouping criteria in data tables created in Explore, filter options in dashboards through Quickfilter and Filter template functionality, categorical axes in chart widgets, and segmentation variables in analytical operations. The classification of target fields as dimensions is maintained centrally in the Data Dictionary at the instance level and applies consistently across all workspaces, ensuring standardized analytical behavior and consistent field interpretation. Dimensions can contain text strings, numeric codes, dates, boolean values, or other categorical data types that describe characteristics and attributes of business data, and they integrate with Calculated KPI formulas where dimensional context can influence derived calculations.

The primary analytical page within the Use Data platform area where users create widgets by querying data that has completed Adverity’s full processing pipeline and been loaded into Adverity Data Storage, representing the beginning of the analytical consumption phase. Explore provides an interactive interface for selecting dimensions and metrics (only target fields that have been mapped through Data Mapping are available), applying filters, creating visualizations, building data tables, and configuring analytical presentations that form the basis of widgets for Dashboards. Users work with views in Explore, where each view represents a specific combination of data selections, filters, formatting options, and visualization settings that query the properly processed and standardized data from Adverity Data Storage. Only views that are explicitly added to dashboards are permanently saved as widgets, making Explore both a development environment and preview system for analytical content that will be consumed in Present. Explore integrates comprehensively with the Data Dictionary to display available target fields with their proper classifications (dimension vs metric), supports Calculated KPI and Calculated metric integration for derived analytics that combine collected and computed metrics, and provides extensive preview capabilities for testing different data combinations, filtering scenarios, and visualization options. Explore cannot access unmapped source fields that remain in local storage, ensuring that only properly processed and standardized data is available for analytical operations.
- Filter template#
A reusable collection of filter configurations that can be applied to multiple dashboards to provide consistent interactive filtering capabilities and user experience across an organization, operating at the final analytical consumption stage where processed data becomes interactive for end users. Filter templates define specific dimensions and metrics (which must be target fields that have been properly mapped through Data Mapping and loaded into Adverity Data Storage) that can be used as filter criteria, along with their available values, default settings, user interface presentation, and interaction behaviors. Filter templates work with data that has been loaded into Adverity Data Storage and can only reference target fields that are available there - unmapped source fields that remain in local storage cannot be used in Filter templates. Once created, Filter templates can be assigned to multiple dashboards in Present to enable users to dynamically modify displayed data without altering underlying widget configurations or requiring new analytical development, promoting consistency in user interaction patterns across related analytical interfaces. This approach reduces effort required to create interactive analytical interfaces and ensures standardized filtering behavior across dashboards while maintaining the data quality and standardization achieved through Adverity’s processing pipeline.
- Instance#
The complete Adverity infrastructure environment accessible through a unique URL that contains all workspaces, users, configurations, data, and operational resources for an organization, serving as the top-level container for all data processing operations from initial collection through final analytical consumption. Each Instance represents a fully isolated Adverity deployment with its own workspace hierarchy topped by a root workspace, comprehensive user management, security settings, data governance policies, and complete separation from other organizational deployments. Data, configurations, access permissions, and operational activities do not extend beyond Instance boundaries, ensuring complete organizational separation and security while maintaining comprehensive functionality within each deployment. Instances can be hosted by Adverity in cloud infrastructure, deployed in customer cloud environments, or installed on-premises, but regardless of hosting model, each Instance provides specified Adverity platform functionality including data collection, processing, storage, and analytical capabilities. The Instance houses the centralized Data Dictionary that maintains consistency across all workspaces within the organizational deployment, and provides the foundational infrastructure for user management, security policies, and operational governance.
- Local storage#
The mandatory temporary storage location where raw data extracts are preserved immediately after fetch operations as the first required destination in Adverity’s data processing flow, serving as the foundation for all subsequent processing operations before any transformation, Data Mapping, or destination loading can occur. Local storage represents the critical first stage in the data flow sequence: data source → fetch → local storage (mandatory) → optional transformation → Data Mapping → final destination loading. Local storage typically utilizes Amazon S3 infrastructure by default but can be configured to use alternative storage systems based on organizational requirements, compliance needs, or performance considerations, with configuration options available at the workspace level. Data extracts in local storage serve as base to which any standardization, transformation, mapping, or processing is applied. The retention period, storage configuration, file naming conventions, consolidation behavior, and access patterns for local storage can be customized at the datastream level to meet specific operational and compliance requirements. Local storage is the only location where unmapped source fields are preserved - once data flows through Data Mapping to destinations, only mapped target fields are available in analytical operations.

Manage Data includes interfaces for configuring transformations that modify data after it has been collected and stored in local storage, managing mapping tables and value tables for data enrichment, maintaining the Data Dictionary for organizational field definitions, and managing data quality monitors. This platform area allows you to globally manage objects, such as transformations and monitors, that when assigned to a datastream, handle the critical processing phase where raw data from data sources is transformed, standardized, and prepared for loading into final destinations for analytical consumption.
- Management API#
The comprehensive programmatic interface that enables external systems, scripts, applications, and automation tools to perform some of Adverity operations through HTTP requests instead of using the user interface, providing access to the data processing pipeline. The Management API provides endpoint coverage for managing workspaces, datastreams (including connector and authorization assignment), transformations, Data Mapping configuration, destinations (called Targets in API terminology), task execution and monitoring, scheduling configuration through RESTful API patterns. API authentication employs token-based security with different permission levels corresponding to user roles and organizational access policies, respecting the same workspace hierarchy and inheritance patterns as the user interface. Mapping tables contain two primary columns: MATCH (containing source field values, exact text, or regular expression patterns from data extracts) and VALUE (containing standardized target values to substitute), enabling sophisticated data standardization that operates on original source fields before Data Mapping converts them to target fields. For example, a mapping table might map country codes like “DE” to full country names like “Germany,” or campaign naming conventions to standardized campaign categories for consistent reporting across different data sources and organizational divisions. Mapping tables can be populated through manual entry, imported from external files, linked to value tables for dynamic content management, or automatically populated through Custom script operations, providing flexible approaches to maintaining lookup data. They integrate specifically with Custom script transformations through dedicated instructions and can be shared across multiple datastreams within a workspace for consistent data standardization approaches, respecting workspace hierarchy where parent workspaces can access child workspace mapping tables but not vice versa.
- Metric#
A quantitative, numerical target field containing measurable values that can be aggregated, calculated, and analyzed mathematically, such as clicks, impressions, cost, revenue, conversion counts, session duration, or any other numerical performance indicator that enables business analysis in the final analytical stage of Adverity’s data processing flow. Metrics can only be created from source fields that have been mapped to target fields through Data Mapping processes and loaded into Adverity Data Storage, external warehouse, or external destination - unmapped source fields that remain only in local storage cannot be used as metrics in analytical operations. In Adverity’s interface, metrics are displayed in green colors to distinguish them from dimensions (shown in blue), and they support comprehensive mathematical operations including sum, average, minimum, maximum, count, and can be referenced in Calculated KPI and Calculated metric formulas to derive additional business insights and complex analytical calculations. The classification of target fields as metrics is maintained centrally in the Data Dictionary at the instance level and ensures consistent mathematical treatment across all workspaces and analytical operations, providing standardized behavior regardless of which datastream or data source originally provided the data.
- Monitor#
Automated data quality validation systems that examine data extracts after fetch operations to detect anomalies, inconsistencies, quality issues, or unusual patterns before they impact downstream analytics, operating at the critical quality control point immediately after data collection and before any processing or loading operations. Monitors execute after the fetch phase of the data flow: data source → fetch → data extracts → local storage → monitor validation → subsequent processing, ensuring that quality issues are detected at the earliest possible stage before data enters the processing pipeline. There are two main monitor categories: Universal monitors that provide standardized quality checks applicable across all data source types (Duplication, Volume, Timeliness, Column Consistency), and Custom monitors that enforce organization-specific data validation rules, business logic requirements, and specialized quality criteria. Monitors can be configured with hierarchical inheritance patterns: globally (applied to all datastreams in the root workspace), in bulk (applied to selected datastream groups via Data Quality page), or individually (applied to specific datastreams with settings that override global configurations). A single datastream can have both universal and custom monitors active simultaneously, providing comprehensive quality validation that combines standard checks with business-specific requirements. Monitors can be configured to raise warnings (allowing processing to continue while flagging concerns for review) or errors (stopping data processing completely until issues are resolved), with all results tracked through the Activity page and Data Quality page interface for comprehensive operational visibility.
- Performance Manager#
A comprehensive operational dashboard that provides insights into task execution performance, system optimization opportunities, operational health metrics, and proactive recommendations across all datastreams within a workspace, serving as the primary interface for monitoring and optimizing the complete data processing pipeline from collection through final loading. The Performance Manager displays scheduled and manual tasks from recent time periods along with detailed performance metrics covering the complete data flow cycle: fetch performance, transformation processing time, destination loading duration, monitor results, and overall pipeline efficiency. It integrates closely with the Activity page to provide detailed operational visibility and helps identify bottlenecks in fetch operations, inefficient transformation processing, slow destination loading, or quality issues detected by monitors. The Performance Manager analyzes patterns across multiple task executions to identify optimization opportunities such as datastreams that may benefit from schedule modifications, configuration improvements, resource allocation changes, or architectural optimizations to improve overall data pipeline performance. The dashboard supports proactive system management by highlighting potential issues before they impact data availability, recommending configuration adjustments based on performance patterns, and providing comprehensive visibility into the health and efficiency of data operations.
- Platform area#
The three main functional groupings that organize Adverity’s capabilities into logical workflow stages reflecting the natural progression of data from collection through processing to consumption: Connect Data, Manage Data, and Use Data, each containing specific pages designed for particular aspects of the complete data lifecycle. Each platform area corresponds to distinct stages in Adverity’s data processing flow with Connect Data orchestrating the data flow, Manage Data handling the processing tools, and Use Data handling the analytical consumption phase. Users navigate between platform areas using the platform navigation menu to access different functional capabilities that correspond to their role in the data lifecycle, with most comprehensive data workflows requiring coordinated operations across multiple platform areas to achieve complete data pipeline management. The platform area structure ensures that users can focus on specific aspects of the data lifecycle while maintaining clear visibility into how their work integrates with the broader data processing flow, from initial collection through final business intelligence consumption.
- Present#
The page within the Use Data platform area dedicated to creating, managing, organizing, and sharing dashboards that assemble widgets into comprehensive analytical presentations for stakeholder consumption, representing the final stage of Adverity’s data processing and visualization flow where processed data becomes actionable business intelligence. Present operates exclusively on data that has completed the full processing pipeline, ensuring stakeholders consume properly processed, standardized, and quality-validated data. Present provides the complete interface for organizing widgets created in Explore into dashboards, applying Filter templates and Quickfilters for interactivity, configuring dashboard layouts and responsive design that work across different devices, and managing sharing, publication, and distribution settings for organizational stakeholder access. Dashboards in Present can contain widgets that combine data from multiple datastreams when they have been loaded into Adverity Data Storage and mapped to the same target fields, enabling cross-platform analytical presentations that leverage Adverity’s data harmonization capabilities. Present supports comprehensive collaborative analytics by enabling dashboard sharing with specific users, external publishing for stakeholder access, export capabilities for report distribution, and responsive layouts that maintain functionality across desktop and mobile interfaces.
- Quickfilter#
A dynamic, interactive filtering mechanism that can be applied to individual dashboards to enable real-time data exploration and analysis without modifying underlying widget configurations, operating at the final analytical consumption stage where users interact with data that has completed the full processing pipeline from collection through destination loading. Quickfilters work with data that has been loaded into Adverity Data Storage and can only filter target fields that have been properly mapped through Data Mapping - unmapped source fields that remain in local storage are not accessible through Quickfilter functionality. Quickfilters allow users to select specific values for dimensions and metrics, instantly updating all compatible widgets within the dashboard to reflect filtered data selections and providing immediate visual feedback. Unlike Filter templates which are reusable across multiple dashboards for organizational standardization, Quickfilters are specific to individual dashboards and provide immediate interactivity for exploratory data analysis. Quickfilters enhance analytical value by enabling users to dynamically explore different data segments, time periods, geographic regions, campaign performance, or other dimensional slices without requiring new widget creation, technical knowledge, or development resources.
- Storage#
An exact synonym for local storage with identical functionality, purpose, characteristics, and role in Adverity’s data processing flow as the mandatory first destination for all data extracts after fetch operations. Both terms refer to the same critical staging area in the data pipeline where raw data is preserved before any processing operations. The terms “storage” and local storage describe the identical system component that maintains original source fields with their exact names, formats, and content as provided by data sources, serves as the source for transformation processing and Data Mapping operations, and provides the foundation for reprocessing capabilities throughout the data lifecycle. Both terms can be used interchangeably throughout Adverity operations, documentation, and user interfaces without any functional distinction, difference in behavior, configuration options, or capabilities.
- Task#
A comprehensive operational unit representing the complete execution of a datastream setup, encompassing the entire data processing flow from initial collection through final loading: fetch → local storage → optional transformation → optional data quality monitoring → Data Mapping → destination loading, with each phase documented and monitored for complete operational transparency. Each task begins with a fetch operation to collect data from the configured data source using the assigned connector and authorization, followed by automatic storage in local storage, followed by optional data quality monitoring and transformation processing to modify the data extracts according to assigned transformations, and concludes with optional loading operations to distribute processed and mapped data to all assigned destinations. Tasks can be initiated manually or automatically through configured scheduling (Manual, Smart, or Custom fetch types), and each execution creates comprehensive operational records including timing information for each processing phase, status reporting for the complete pipeline, error details from any stage, performance metrics across the workflow, and monitor validation results from the quality checks performed after fetch operations. Task execution is monitored comprehensively through the Activity page (providing detailed visibility into each processing stage) and Performance Manager (providing optimization insights across multiple task executions), with monitors evaluating data quality during the initial fetch phase before data enters the processing pipeline.
- Transformation#
A comprehensive data processing configuration that defines how to modify, enrich, clean, restructure, or enhance data extracts during the processing stage of Adverity’s data flow, operating after collection and storage but before final loading. Transformations exist in two distinct types: Standard transformations that provide user-friendly interfaces for common data modifications, and Custom script transformations that offer unlimited flexibility through instruction-based programming capabilities using Python-like syntax for complex data manipulation operations. Transformations process data in the local storage after fetching, and pass the results to Data Mapping where source fields (potentially modified by transformations) are mapped to target fields for destination loading. Multiple transformations can be assigned to a single datastream and they execute in the configured order during task execution, enabling complex multi-step processing workflows where later transformations operate on the results of earlier transformations. The same transformation configuration can be assigned to multiple datastreams simultaneously, enabling reuse of complex processing logic across different data sources and promoting consistency in data processing approaches across organizational data operations. Transformations can integrate comprehensively with mapping tables and value tables that exist within the same workspace hierarchy for sophisticated data enrichment, standardization, validation, and business logic application operations. Transformation processing follows the rule that transformations happen once per datastream execution and all assigned destinations receive the same processed data.
- Use Data#
One of the three main platform areas in Adverity that focuses on data analysis, visualization, presentation, and consumption, containing pages dedicated to the final analytical stages of the data pipeline. Use Data includes the Explore page for creating analytical widgets by querying processed data, the Present page for organizing widgets into comprehensive dashboards, Data Conversations for natural language data querying, and Destinations page for managing all destinations in your workspace. This platform area operates exclusively on data that has completed the full processing pipeline and been loaded into appropriate analytical destinations, ensuring users work with clean, standardized, and properly mapped data for business intelligence and decision-making purposes.
- Value table#
A simple, single-column reference list containing predefined values that can be used to populate mapping tables, configure datastream settings, or support other Adverity operations requiring standardized value lists, operating within the processing stage of the data flow to enable consistent data standardization during transformation operations. Value tables provide centralized management of commonly used reference values such as campaign categories, geographic regions, product classifications, organizational divisions, or any other categorical data that appears frequently across data operations and needs consistent application during transformation processing. Value tables can be created through manual entry, imported from external sources, or automatically populated from data extracts using Custom script transformation operations that analyze data in local storage and extract unique values for standardization purposes. Value tables integrate seamlessly with mapping tables during transformation processing to enable dynamic value substitution where Custom scripts can perform lookups that convert inconsistent source values to standardized target values, ensuring that changes to value table entries automatically propagate to all linked mapping tables without requiring individual updates across multiple transformation configurations. Value tables exist within workspace hierarchies and can be shared across multiple datastreams within the same workspace, enabling consistent standardization approaches while maintaining security boundaries and organizational structure alignment.
- Web Connect#
A universal connector that enables data collection from any web-based API, service, or endpoint that lacks a dedicated connector in Adverity’s standard library, serving as a bridge between Adverity’s extensive connector collection and the diverse landscape of business applications while following the same data processing flow as all other connectors. Users configure Web Connect datastreams by specifying API endpoints, request parameters, authentication credentials, response parsing rules, error handling, and data extraction logic, with the resulting data following the identical processing pipeline as dedicated connectors through local storage, optional transformations, Data Mapping, and destination loading. Web Connect ensures organizations can collect data from any API-enabled system regardless of whether a dedicated connector exists, enabling comprehensive data consolidation across the complete spectrum of business applications while maintaining the same data quality, processing consistency, and analytical integration as purpose-built connectors.
- Widget#
An individual analytical element that displays data in table or visualization format within dashboards, created through view configurations in Explore that query data which has completed the full processing pipeline. Widgets can only display data that has been loaded into Adverity Data Storage and uses target fields that have been properly mapped through Data Mapping - unmapped source fields that remain in local storage are not accessible for widget creation, ensuring analytical consistency and data quality. Widgets exist in various types including data tables, bar charts, line graphs, pie charts, scatter plots, KPI boxes, geographical maps, heatmaps, and multimedia elements like images and videos, providing comprehensive visualization capabilities for different analytical needs using the standardized, processed data from the complete pipeline. Widgets are created through view development in Explore where users select dimensions and metrics (all derived from properly mapped target fields), apply filters, configure formatting, and preview results before adding to dashboards, ensuring that analytical content reflects clean, harmonized data regardless of original data source complexity. Only views that are explicitly added to dashboards in Present are permanently saved as persistent widgets, with widget configurations preserving the data selections, filtering, formatting, and visualization settings specified during creation while maintaining connection to the underlying processed data. Widgets can incorporate Calculated KPIs and Calculated metrics from the Data Dictionary for derived analytics, support interactive features when incorporated into dashboards with Filter template or Quickfilter integration, and can combine data from multiple datastreams when they have been loaded into the same destination and mapped to the same target fields.
- Workspace#
A comprehensive organizational container that houses all data operations, configurations, resources, and access controls for specific teams, projects, business units, or functional areas within the Adverity instance, serving as the fundamental organizing principle for the complete data processing pipeline from collection through analytical consumption. Workspaces form a hierarchical tree structure where each workspace has one parent and potentially multiple children, enabling inheritance of settings, permissions, resources, and configurations from parent to child workspaces while maintaining security boundaries that align with organizational structures and data governance requirements. Within each workspace, users can create and manage all Adverity resources including datastreams (with their complete pipeline configurations), authorizations (for data source access), destinations (for processed data loading), transformations (for data processing), mapping tables and value tables (for data standardization), monitors (for data quality monitoring), and all other platform components according to their access permissions and organizational roles. Workspace hierarchies enable sophisticated operational patterns where parent workspaces can access and utilize resources created in child workspaces through hierarchical inheritance. The workspace hierarchy integrates with every aspect of data processing including authorization sharing (making credentials available to child workspaces), transformation and monitor reuse (enabling consistent processing across organizational units), and analytical access (enabling parent workspaces to create widgets and dashboards using child workspace data). The root workspace serves as the top-level workspace in each instance. Users with Administrator role in the root workspace have additional permissions.
