Bulk editing widgets on a dashboard#

This guide explains how to apply changes to all widgets on a dashboard at once using the bulk actions in the Edit dashboard menu.

Bulk actions are available in Edit dashboard > Bulk actions.

Mapping dimensions and metrics#

Use Map dimensions and metrics to switch the dimensions and metrics used in widgets across the entire dashboard. This is useful when a data source field is renamed or replaced and you want to update all widgets at once instead of editing each one individually. Remapping also updates the dimensions and metrics used in quickfilters and dimension/metric switchers. The Remap the dashboard’s dimension quickfilter checkbox controls whether the dashboard-level dimension quickfilter is included in the remapping.

Note

Dimensions and metrics highlighted in yellow are not available in the current workspace.

To map dimensions and metrics across all widgets, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Present page.

  2. Click the dashboard you want to update.

  3. In the top right corner, click image1 Edit dashboard.

  4. In the Bulk actions group, click Map dimensions and metrics. A two-step wizard opens.

  5. In the first step, the dialog shows two columns: Currently in use and Switch to. For each dimension or metric you want to replace, select a replacement value in the Switch to column. Click Next.

  6. In the second step, select the scope of the change: Current page, All dashboard pages, or Specific widgets to pick widgets across any page.

  7. Click Apply.

As a result, the widgets within the selected scope are updated to use the selected replacements.

Use Change dimension filter for all Explore widgets to apply or update a dimension filter across widgets on the dashboard that are based on Explore views (cube widgets).

You can configure the filter manually, load a saved filter template, or save the current configuration as a template for reuse. For more information about filter templates, see Working with widget filter templates.

As a result, the selected dimension filter is applied to the eligible widgets within the selected scope.

Refreshing all widgets#

Use Refresh all widgets to trigger an on-demand data reload for all widgets on the dashboard. This works on both frozen and unfrozen dashboards. Unfrozen dashboards also refresh automatically once a day.

To refresh all widgets, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Present page.

  2. Click the dashboard you want to refresh.

  3. In the top right corner, click image4 Edit dashboard.

  4. In the Bulk actions group, click Refresh all widgets.

As a result, all widgets on the dashboard reload their data. If the dashboard is frozen, it remains frozen after the refresh.
