ChatGPT Ads: Setup guide#

This guide explains how to collect data from ChatGPT Ads.

Introduction#

ChatGPT Ads is OpenAI’s advertising platform for running campaigns within ChatGPT. The ChatGPT Ads connector collects campaign performance and account structure data from ChatGPT Ads, enabling comprehensive reporting by integrating ChatGPT Ads data with other paid-media channels.

Limitations#

Collecting data from ChatGPT Ads comes with the following limitations:

  • Insights data covers only the last five years and cannot include the current day or future dates. If your selected date range exceeds this, Adverity automatically adjusts it to the supported range.

  • An API key is scoped to a single ChatGPT Ads account. To collect data from multiple accounts, create a separate authorization with its own API key for each account.

Prerequisites#

Before you start collecting data from ChatGPT Ads, perform all of the following actions:

Creating a datastream to collect data from ChatGPT Ads#

The basics of creating a datastream to collect data from any data source are explained in our guide to Collecting data in Adverity. This guide contains information about the specific steps to create a datastream to fetch data from ChatGPT Ads.

Authorization: Allow Adverity to access ChatGPT Ads#

To set up a new authorization to fetch data from ChatGPT Ads, follow these steps:

  1. In the Authorization step of the datastream wizard, click Access ChatGPT Ads using your credentials.

  2. Click Next.

  3. In API Key, enter your ChatGPT Ads API key.

  4. Click Authorize.

As a result, Adverity has access to ChatGPT Ads using the credentials you provided.

Configuration: Choose the data you want to collect from ChatGPT Ads#

To choose what data to collect and customize the ChatGPT Ads datastream configuration, follow these steps:

  1. (Optional) Rename your datastream.

  2. In Report type, select the type of data to collect from ChatGPT Ads. The available options are:

    • Insights — performance metrics such as impressions, clicks, and spend

    • Ad accounts — metadata about your ad accounts

    • Campaigns — metadata about your campaigns

    • Ad groups — metadata about your ad groups

    • Ads — metadata about your ads

The selected report type determines the additional fields to populate.

  3. If you selected Insights as the report type:

    1. In Aggregation level, select the level at which to aggregate data: Ad account, Campaign (default), Ad group, or Ad.

    2. In Time granularity, select the time granularity for the report: Hourly, Daily (default), Monthly, or None.

    3. (Optional) In Breakdown, select an additional dimension to break the data down by: Product, Country, or Device.

      Note

Breakdown is only available with Daily or Monthly time granularity. If you select a breakdown, also select its matching identity field in Fields, for example country.name for the Country breakdown.

    4. In Fields, select the metrics to include in your data extract. By default, Impressions, Clicks, and Spend are selected. You can also add CTR, CPC, and CPM.

As a result, Adverity fetches data from ChatGPT Ads according to the configuration you set.
