DoorDash Ads: Setup guide#
This guide explains how to collect data from DoorDash Ads.
Introduction#
DoorDash Ads is DoorDash’s advertising platform for CPG brands and retailers running Sponsored Products and Sponsored Brands campaigns on DoorDash. The DoorDash Ads connector collects campaign, ad group, product, and keyword performance data, along with product sales, competitive category share, customer interest rankings, and product catalog data.
Limitations#
Collecting data from DoorDash Ads comes with the following limitations:
Most report types cover up to three years of history. Interest Insights is limited to the last year.
A single fetch cannot span more than one year, except Interest Insights, which is limited to 90 days. Adverity automatically splits a longer range into multiple fetches.
Weekly and monthly fetches are aligned to whole weeks and months, so a data extract can include dates outside the requested range.
Catalog is a point-in-time snapshot of your product catalog and has no date dimension.
Sales and Competitive Share data can be delayed by up to two days at DoorDash’s end.
In Group By, Vertical and Retailer cannot be selected together.
Retailer-level data in Group By requires a Diamond or Gold tier DoorDash agreement. Category-level data requires a Circana entitlement, or a Nielsen entitlement for alcohol or non-US advertisers. DoorDash rejects the request if your agreement does not cover the selected level.
Ad Group Placement reports are not available for Sponsored Brands campaigns.
Prerequisites#
Before you start collecting data from DoorDash Ads, perform all of the following actions:
Obtain a DoorDash Ads API key from your DoorDash contact.
Creating a datastream to collect data from DoorDash Ads#
The basics of creating a datastream to collect data from any data source are explained in our guide to Collecting data in Adverity. This guide contains information about the specific steps to create a datastream to fetch data from DoorDash Ads.
Configuration: Choose the data you want to collect from DoorDash Ads#
To choose what data to collect and customize the DoorDash Ads datastream configuration, follow these steps:
(Optional) Rename your datastream.
In Report Type, select the type of data to collect from DoorDash Ads. The available options are:
Campaign — performance metrics at the campaign level
Ad Group — performance metrics at the ad group level
Ad Group Placement — performance metrics broken down by placement
Product — performance metrics at the product level
Keyword — performance metrics at the keyword level
Sales — product sales data
Competitive Share — your share of category sales compared to competitors
Interest Insights — customer interest rankings
Catalog — a snapshot of your product catalog
The selected report type determines the additional fields to populate.
If you selected Campaign, Ad Group, Ad Group Placement, or Product as the report type, in Campaign Type, select Sponsored Products (default) or Sponsored Brands.
If you selected Campaign, Ad Group, Ad Group Placement, or Product, in Time Granularity, select None (default) or Hourly.
Note
Hourly adds day of week, hour, and dayparting columns to the data extract, and substantially increases the number of rows returned.
If you selected Sales, in Time Granularity, select Daily (default), Weekly, or Monthly.
If you selected Competitive Share, in Time Granularity, select Weekly (default) or Monthly.
If you selected Sales or Competitive Share, in Group By, select one or more dimensions to break the data down by:
Sales — Brand, Item, Vertical, Retailer
Competitive Share — Brand, Vertical, Retailer, Category
If you selected Competitive Share, in Category Provider, select Nielsen (default) or Circana. Circana supports a deeper category breakdown than Nielsen, and is available to US advertisers only. Select Category in Group By to return the deeper breakdown.
If you selected Catalog, (Optional) in Catalog Filters, select one or more conditions to restrict the export: Missing primary image, Missing auxiliary images, Missing description, In active campaign.
In Fields, select the columns to include in your data extract. The available fields depend on the selected report type, and, for some report types, on Campaign Type or Category Provider. If left empty, all available fields for the selected report are retrieved.
As a result, Adverity fetches data from DoorDash Ads according to the configuration you set.
