Brandwatch Measure: Setup guide#

This guide explains how to collect data from Brandwatch Measure.

Introduction#

The Brandwatch Measure API allows you to fetch cross-platform social media performance insights across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter/X, TikTok, and more. You can collect two types of data: channel-level insights and content-level insights.

Limitations#

Collecting data from Brandwatch Measure comes with the following limitations:

  • Historical data is available for up to 2 years and 3 months back from the current date.

Creating a datastream to collect data from Brandwatch Measure#

The basics of creating a datastream to collect data from any data source are explained in our guide to Collecting data in Adverity. This guide contains information about the specific steps to create a datastream to fetch data from Brandwatch Measure.

Authorization: Allow Adverity to access Brandwatch Measure#

Before creating an authorization to give Adverity access to Brandwatch Measure, perform the following actions:

  1. Contact your Brandwatch Measure account administrator to obtain an API key.

To set up a new authorization to fetch data from Brandwatch Measure, follow these steps:

  1. In the Authorization step of the datastream wizard, click Access Brandwatch Measure using your credentials.

  2. Click Next.

  3. In API Key, enter your Brandwatch Measure API key.

  4. Click Authorize.

Configuration: Choose the data you want to collect from Brandwatch Measure#

To choose what data to collect and customize the Brandwatch Measure datastream configuration, follow these steps:

  1. (Optional) Rename your datastream.

  2. In Report type, select the type of data to collect from Brandwatch Measure. For a description of each report type, see Report types below.

  3. In Channel ID, select the channels for which to collect data. If you do not select any items in the drop-down list, Adverity collects data for all available channels.

  4. In Content ID, select the content items for which to collect data. This field applies to the Content insights report type only. If you do not select any items in the drop-down list, Adverity collects data for all available content items.

  5. In Networks, select the social media networks to include. Available options are: FACEBOOK, TWITTER, INSTAGRAM, LINKEDIN, TIKTOK, PINTEREST, YOUTUBE. If you do not select any items in the drop-down list, Adverity collects data for all networks.

  6. In Metrics, select the metrics to collect. If you do not select any items in the drop-down list, Adverity collects data for all available metrics.

  7. In Fields, change the list of fields that you want to see in your data extract.

Report types#

To select the type of data to collect from Brandwatch Measure, choose from the following report types:

Content insights

Collects per-content-item performance data. The date field represents the content’s publish date. Data is returned with lifetime granularity per content item.

Channel insights

Collects channel-level performance data aggregated by day. Depending on the selected metrics, results may include demographic breakdowns such as country or gender/age group.
